Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – At Sea – Atlantic Ocean / Caribbean Sea – 75F – Partly Cloudy

Back out on the open sea with sun and comfortable temperatures.

Sea Day 3-910 (Small)

Without a doubt, one of my favorite places is the Solarium.  Quiet and air-conditioned – new age music in the background and dancing fountains – it is the place to go and relax.  Of course, to complete the whole experience is a cool, fresh, iced tea and a view of the ocean.

The ship’s course is taking us past the northwest coast of Cuba and the island is clearly visible off the port side.

I had a chance to talk to Ian last night and he indicated that the feedback was great from the first cruise.  We decided we would go with the same six talks with two of them being on the short port days.

Based on input from Ellen, I planned on updating all six talks for this cruise.  A good portion of the day was spent on tuning up the first two talks.

The first talk - “The CSI Phenomenon” – has about 25 new slides but still takes the same time.   The first talk is always the antsy one – not knowing what kind of crowd this will be.  What I do know is that this cruise has fewer English speaking passengers aboard so that will impact the attendance.  Again, I get there early to make sure the AV is working OK and there are only 10 attendees present.  Fortunately, by show time, there are about 200 people in Celebrity Central including about five people in wheel chairs.  Again, Ian introduced me and the talk went well.  I previewed the remaining six talks for the group and they seemed interested in the topics.

Tonight is formal night #1 – we are back in our formal wear.  Dinner in the Silhouette Dining Room was pretty good (I can no longer remember all the dishes) and our wait staff is very good.  I do recall that I became addicted to the apple pie a la mode (lots of raisins just the way I like it).

We’ve seen all of the Production shows – tonight is “Equinox, the Show” and we are not planning to go to this one.  Instead, we wound up spending some time relaxing around the ship.

We were able to document our formalness in Michael’s Club (thanks to our wonderful waitress, Alexandra).
