Tuesday, October 30, 2012 – Rhodes, Greece – Partly Cloudy - 73F

Local Information:  Rhodes is part of the Dodecanese group of Greek Islands.  Rhodes Town, the largest city on the island, is still surrounded by a city wall built by the Knights of Rhodes as protection against the Turks.  The Grandmasters Palace, the residence of the Knight’s leader still stands ironically not to far down the road from the Mosque of Suleiman.  The Knights were driven out of Rhodes and eventually took up residence in Malta as the Knights of Malta.

The goal today in Rhodes is to find some WiFi and catch up on stuff back home.

In the morning, we both went into Rhodes Town to walk around and find that WiFi.

All it took was an email address (and who doesn’t have a few of them) and you were connected.  That done, we headed back to the ship for lunch.

After lunch, I went back to the town alone to answer some important emails while Ellen relaxed in the Solarium (top level of the Ship below).

I took care of all of my communications and took a little walk around Rhodes Town.  The small street below caught my attention.

The rest of the day was spent in the Solarium reading.

Dinner in the Opus Dining Room again – I have been having specially prepared spaghetti marina just about every night.  For some reason, I am not tired of it.  Since it is made that night, the chef always makes it a little differently each time.  Very good – gets finished most of the time.  Probably, the healthiest pasta on the menu.

My third talk - “Mystery of the Romanovs” – is scheduled for 8:00 PM in Celebrity Central.  Competing with Dinner and the Show, the talk still draws a good crowd – 180 people – about 20 left for dinner at 8:35 PM.  Some people pre-apologized for having to leave for their second seating reservation.

Showtime: Pete Matthews – Juggler – saw him last cruise – we opted out of the show and instead spent time in the Foyer (very quiet during Showtime).

Pedometer: 7,354 steps; 3.5 miles; 361 calories
