Monday, October 15, 2012 – At Sea – Cloudy – 50s F

A cloudy, rainy day at sea…

Not much sleep last night.  There is a strange noise in our cabin.  I thought it might be related to the bow thrusters but now I think it is coming from the plumbing system (sounds like a pump going on an off).  I recorded the noise (which came on at 4 AM) and will play it for the engineers should it continue to be an issue.

At 9:30 AM, I went to hear Lisa Didier talk about Spanish History in the Reflection Theater.  She had a tiny turnout – perhaps passengers were tired from the long day in Paris yesterday.

Most of the day was spent in the Solarium looking out at the water and cloudy skies.

My second talk “Cold Cases Solved” – was scheduled for 2:30 PM in Celebrity Central.  The scheduling only gave me about 40 minutes for my longest talk,  I called Esperanza and told her I would be running a little long (the same thing happened to Lisa in the morning; she had about 5 or more slides to go when she ran out of time).  I did run about 5 minutes or so long but it went really well.   There were about 140 people there – all energetic and enthusiastic.  Nick, the Cruise Director, stopped by for a short time and gave me some positive feedback afterwards.

Dinner in the Opus Dining Room was very good.  We have found a real nice (albeit noisy) table manned by a great waiter and his equally great French assistant, Elodie.  The food has been coming quickly and the iced teas and coffees are also punctual.  Tonight, we enjoyed the Prosciutto-less Rigatoni and Cream Sauce.

We caught the end of the Show starring Davie Howes (Musician Comedian).  We had seen him before.

The rest of the evening was spent reading in the Ensemble Lounge.  Tonight will be an early night so we can catch up on some lost sleep,
