It’s a short day in Cartagena – all aboard at 12:30 PM – push at 1:00 PM.
As I was walking into breakfast in the Windows Café, one
of the suits, Braulio (I think), told me that he had arranged for cottage cheese
and sour cream to be available at the fruit and yoghurt area and I should just
ask for it. He gave me today’s portion
that I put on a pancake. I got my go cup
coffee and sat inside this morning (the Veranda wouldn’t open until 7:30 AM and
the Café opened at 6:30 AM (early second day excursion, I guess) and I was up there around 7 AM.
Still gray and muggy in Cartagena.
It’s a hot and humid day so we spent most of it in The Living Room. We went to lunch in the Windows Café and I
had a Beyond Burger along with Onion Rings.
Again for some reason, they put avocado and shredded red cabbage on the burger (I
wanted grilled onions). Once again, I
scraped off that stuff and replaced it with a raw onion and tomato from the
buffet. The burger, though overdone, was
OK. I also tried a slice of pizza (the first on these cruises and it was pretty
good). Along with the burger, I had a
Grolsch Beer – always good.
Back in the Living Room to take advantage of the A/C. I am still reading “The Edge”.
We watched the sail away from the comfort of the Living Room.
The Viking Sky had pulled alongside the Star Pride so now there are two heuty teuty ships (three if you count Onward and you should) in Cartagena. Never seen three ships here at one time (two is pretty rare).
There is a special Christmas Eve Dinner at the Discoveries Dining Room. The menu
looked good but we couldn’t get it because they were handing out tickets with
dining times (we had no idea and got no notice). We defaulted to the Windows Café – there were
maybe 10 people in the buffet and everyone else was in the Dining Room. There was not a lot to eat in the buffet – I
had a salad, some rice, and that was about it – the bread was good as was the
decaf coffee.
We went to the Living Room and not the Christmas Show.
Because the room was once again cold, we went to the room to warm up. Until now, the temp control on Onward has been very good - not sure what happened to change that but it was Arctic in the ship now.
Ho, ho, ho.
