March 22, 2025 – At Sea – North Atlantic Ocean – Partly Cloudy – Low 70s

Another choppy morning.  The veranda was once again almost deserted when I got to La Veranda for breakfast.

Today, after my cereal (I really like the little cereal starter), I ordered two plain pancakes and when they came I got some scrambled eggs. Just to shake things up a bit, I asked the chef for a little cheddar cheese for my eggs.

That made them even better.  And the coffee was flowing. A great breakfast.

Mid morning, I went to Coffee Connection and had another delicious Iced Mocha. The barista has my order memorized.  I tuned up the talk over the coffee – a winning combination.

Another simple meal at the Pool Grill for lunch – salad with Ranch Dressing (excellent) garnished with some red onions (appeared on the salad bar) and some crumbled blue cheese and croutons.  Along with that a couple of slices of pizza and two glasses of iced tea.

It is too chilly to eat on the deck so we are in the roof-protected area of the Pool Grill.

My talk today, “Forensic Detectives: The Search for Jack the Ripper” went very well. Surprisingly, Walter Sickert got a couple of votes and Aaron Kosminski got quite a few votes but the winner, and not by a landslide today, was Lizzie.  People told me that maybe the victims did not scream when attacked because they recognized their hairdresser.  That was a new and an interesting insight.

We spent the late afternoon in the Observation Lounge and I did get a nice picture of the sunset.

We both got Apricot Sours with Ellen’s containing half the alcohol. Once the bars open, they have servers roaming around with appetizers but the only acceptable ones were mixed nuts. We stayed until after six and I was told that jeans weren’t allowed after six so we headed to the room to change for dinner.

In the Compass Rose, it was once again, Dover Sole for Ellen and Pasta Pesto for me (along with a salad and the San Marzano Tomato Soup).  Dinner was good as usual.

Showtime tonight featured vocalist Peter Grant, who gives off a kind of Michael Buble vibe.  He was joined on stage by his wife, violinist Inna Tostova, who backed him up on a number.  We had passed on her show the other night because we are not into violinists.

Tomorrow we will have completed our crossing – no time change tonight - a bonus.
