Happy
Vernal Equinox – Any Druids on Board
Slept pretty good even with the time change – got up pretty late and got to La Veranda closer to 7:45 AM – fortunately, Table 62 was still available. In fact, the veranda was pretty empty this morning. My Danish breakfast friends were also there in their away from the wind corner booth.
There was some chop going on and it was a bit windy out there this morning but still nice.
I had the special of the day – blintzes. They looked like blintzes but I am not sure what they are filled with (maybe ricotta since there is no cottage cheese). They were OK along with a red jelly and some version of sour cream. I also had a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats which was a good idea since the blintzes were not very filling. The coffee was so strong today that I, once again, had my half of a cup topped off with hot water. The servers will figure out the pattern in a day or so.
Feeling a lot
better today (the cough and raspy throat are less noticeable) – maybe I did have a sinus infection and the
Augmentin is helping.
Lunch today
was at the Pool Grill – I had two slices of pizza (the slices are
actually pretty small) and a sandwich made from a hamburger bun and a salmon
filet (made my own tartar sauce from mayo and relish). Both items were really good (the salmon was grilled perfectly). Dessert was also very good – a scoop of
Coffee Fudge Ice Cream topped with chocolate syrup and chocolate sprinkles. I have discovered that the iced tea on this
ship is really good. I should be
drinking beer but just don’t feel like it and I am working again this afternoon.
Talk #4 – “Forensics
and History: The Search for the Unknown Titanic Child” was well attended
and went well (my voice was much improved) – it ran a little late at 49 minutes.
We went the Coffee
Connection for a Chai Latte (Almond Milk) and an Iced Mocha. The staff at
the Coffee Connection are wonderful from the barista to the servers (I think
her name was Joy). After being anonymous
for half the cruise, a lot of people now recognized me (I was still in my
speaker outfit). We also had a long chat with a fellow from Portland; we talked
about AI, a smidge of politics, and the GDP issues with various States.
We also said
hello to Lisa-Marie and her fiancé who was sitting at the next table.
I got a
picture of the sunset because from here on out the days are going to get
longer.
There is no
show tonight (a new experience for us) so we decided to have Room Service in
the room and then go hear some music (hard to do with the regular show
schedule).
I ordered the
following for Dinner: Veggie Spring rolls (6) with Thai Pepper sauce (I had
these earlier and they were the best spring rolls I have ever had); A Caesar
salad that was very good that we shared; Pizza Margherita that was too big even
for sharing (I could only eat two pieces – it was really good; along with two
diet cokes from the fridge, this made for a wonderful dinner. Quiet, peaceful,
and delicious.
We finished at 7 PM and went to the Splendor Lounge and caught a half hour of Rhyme and Rhythm.
There is a lot of low level chatter going on in the lounge but you can still hear the singing – they did a nice set (I can always do without “Day-O”, however). And, of course, I love the mixed nuts.
There is still the possibility that cleaning materials used to sanitize the ship are giving us both some issues so we went to the room instead of waiting quite a while for the big ABBA show in the Atrium.
