December 7, 2025 – Bridgetown, Barbados – Mostly Sunny – 87F
We have completed the first segment of our cruise trifecta.
The ship arrived in Bridgetown around 6 AM and took a very long time to pull alongside. There will be a lot of ships here (there always are) - perhaps it was a parallel parking problem.
I waited a while to go upstairs for breakfast (to give the departing
guests a chance to eat and go). When I
did get up to the Marketplace around 7:15 AM, it wasn’t crowded at all. I got
my standard breakfast and had a nice relaxing meal. I got coffee refills – it was all good.
It’s a busy day, as usual, in Bridgetown for cruise ships. Besides us, there is the secondest newest icebreaker, Celebrity Ascent (next to us and making us look small).
Across the harbor, there is the Costa Venezia (the Carnival hybrid ship)
and the Costa Delizioso.
Behind those ships is the Marella Explorer (used to be the Celebrity Galaxy at one time).
(Note: All these ships reminded me of the
last time we were in Barbados – it was during the end of COVID when the Quest
was very infected and we couldn’t stop anywhere but here in Bridgetown. At that time, infected ships came here to
anchor. It was crazy.).
I went with
Ellen to the Waterside Restaurant for breakfast – she had fried eggs, French
Toast, and fruit. It looked and was good
and fresh. We stayed until the
restaurant closed at 9 AM.
We were
advised by the Concierge not to take the port shuttle before 10 AM because
there would be a lot of departing passengers needing to get to the Cruise
Terminal (where the airport transport was).
We hopped on
the shuttle about 10:30 AM and wound up going to the Cruise Terminal and
dropping some people off and then to the duty free Cruise Terminal. We walked around the shops but didn’t really
find anything we wanted. It was getting warmer so we waited for a shuttle ride
back to the ship. We didn't know where our shuttle was so I negotiated with the
Ascent Shuttle to get a ride to Serenity (they were berthed side by side) and
in a few minutes we were back in the air conditioned comfort of our ship.
I had the
“salmon burger” again for lunch along with onion rings – very good again.
The afternoon
was spent in Palm Court – we stayed for Afternoon Tea – Leandro the piano guy
was terrific as was the new violinist, Ely Lee.
The scones are really good on the goody tray.
Before dinner,
we got in line to speak to the Chief Concierge about changing cabins. He said
we could go into 7077, which was on the other corridor and more midships. We told him we would let him know in the
morning whether we wanted to move. We
wanted to check out the location ahead of time.
We went to the
Beefbar at 6:30 PM – Barbara wanted to seat us by a window and we explained why
we couldn’t take that seat. She insisted
and we did sit at Table 3 by the window – it was a moot point since it was pitch
black out there and all we could see were the other ships all lit up.
We shared the
Avocado Hummus and both had the Robata (glazed salmon) and mashed
potatoes. Everything was good as
expected. We both had the Gelato
Mantecato (with an extra dish of chocolate sauce) for dessert and that was also
very good. Decaf coffee and chamomile tea finished off the excellent meal.
The Welcome Aboard Show was “Crystal in Motion” at 9:30 PM in the Galaxy Lounge.
The show did not seem as loud this time round. Highlights were “In a Thousand Years” involving a ballet type dance,
Karin Kovacova belting out “Proud Mary”,
and the dancers doing a stepdance (this time out without the water).
It was a pretty good show.
After the show, we went out on Deck 7 to find our new room. It turned out to be in a good location. And we got a bonus, the Moon and Venus together in the night sky.
Then off to our stateroom.
