Thursday, February 25, 2010 – Travel Day
When you have been dealing with the anti-global warming winter for the past few months in Chicago, one trip around the Caribbean is just not enough. So, we are doing a back to back (10 and 11 days) on the beautiful Celebrity Equinox. The best thing is that the ports of call are totally different on the two itineraries. Old man Winter must have known we were going away because he unleashed a nasty bit of “lake effect” snow on the area last night. About 6 inches fell in about an hour leaving the place a Winter Wonderland.
Fresh Snow – Where’s our Taxi
We have a complicated flight itinerary today – going from O’Hare to Cincinnati then to Ft. Lauderdale. Our aircraft to Cincinnati is a Delta Airlines Embraer Regional Jet – looks like a private jet to me (2 by 1 seating and a single flight attendant).
Even though I had to stoop to avoid hitting my head on the ceiling, it turned out to be a comfortable ride (even though there was no water in the lone washroom – only moist wipes). Comfy leather seats (exit row) and free cookies made up for that.
We made our connection in Cincinnati and our MD88 got us to Ft. Lauderdale on time. On final approach. it looked warm in Ft. Lauderdale
The van from the hotel picked us up and now we are settled in our room.
