March 12,
2026 – Basseterre, St. Kitts Nevis – Mostly Cloudy – 79F
Occasional
rain showers (heavy at times).
Another nice breakfast - haven't really deviated from the pattern this entire cruise - OK with me because I like this breakfast. I'll never tire of the view or the fresh air out on the veranda. I watched Insignia pull into Bassettere.
We stayed on
ship. The walk to the town is pretty long – with the heat and threat of rain we
decided not to go ashore. We have been to Basseterre several times.
After breakfast, I went to Baristas to look over the next talk and get another terrific IMC.
Lunch was in
the Terrace Café – tuna sandwiches were back on the buffet and they were
pretty good. No rain at lunch but there was a double rainbow.
After lunch (I figured guests would be off ship for tours), I did a small load of laundry – the launderette is on Deck 7 opposite Stateroom 7076. Nice machines – easy to operate. On these machines, there is a 30 and 45 minute cycle - the clothes came out perfect. One guest was tossing tennis shoes into the dryer – she had been caught in the downpour and her shoes were saturated.
We spent the
afternoon on Deck 5 – there was a good breeze and pulling our loungers under a lifeboat kept the rain off us. It was pleasant out there. We were treated to a tropical downpour plus an amazing storm over St Kitts.
Tonight we
ordered Special Meals – chicken and a hot dog (they brought two) – I can only
eat one to one and half hot dogs. Both meals were very good.
We watched the sail away from the veranda. Nevis was under clouds.
No show tonight – instead there is the Blue Horizon Party
in Horizons – singers, dancers, and band. Earlier in the day, we had caught a snippet of the show as the crew was rehearsing.
Everyone was asked to wear blue – we didn’t know about this
ahead of time but, fortunately, we both had something blue to wear. The show was a little loud but the real
problem was the LED lights that rotated and shined in our eyes. All the numbers were screamed, not sung, but
it was that kind of show. Like White
Nights, only indoors, and blue. Lots of
energy from all of the singers. A lot of
guests were dancing on the small floor.
We stayed
until about 9:30 PM and then to the room – Lights out at 10:30 PM.
Smoother ride.
